Can I get donations to fund a scholarship and then after enough interest is earned return the principle?

June 9th, 2010 by admin | 3 Comments | Filed in Asnwers

I want to start a foundation for a scholarship. I would like to get funding in some large donations, earn interest to grow the account and then return the principle. The remaining interest would then be the principle for the scholarship fund. Basically it would be an interest free loan for maybe 6 months or a year to get the fund established. Is this legal? What are the tax implications for the original donors (corporate of personal)? Could they deduct the income one year and then have to count it the next?

How long will it take the latest 3/4% interest rate cut to affect the mortgage and loan companies rates?

With the Fed’s decision to cut interest rates, I understand that banks will follow suit and lower interest rates. How fast will it take for these changes to go into place? At what point should people begin to investigate refinancing their mortgages and other loans where it will actually reflect the new rates?

What is an average interest rate on a used car loan with less than average credit?

May 17th, 2010 by admin | 6 Comments | Filed in Asnwers

I am looking at financing 10K on a used car at my local dealer after a $2000 down and a $2500 trade-in, They are offering me a 54 month loan at 14% because of my credit rating which is 608.

I understand that my credit is an issue but am wondering if 14% is high considering I am seeing that the average market rate in my area is 6.78%.

Anyone have any knowledge on the subject?

How will tax rebates work when the US will borrow the money from China at 11% interest and give it to Americans to purchase products built in China? How will reducing interest rates help the people who have been doing the right thing by saving their money?Reducing interest rates just helps out the banks who tried to rip off these people with loans they couldn’t afford in the first place.I can’t say I have the answers to the economy buy I feel these fixes will do nothing but make it worse.
